What Makes Plus Size Womens Shirts A Good Choice of Clothing for Fuller Figured Women

September 1st, 2010

Plus size shirts for women are available at all good  retailers of plus size womens clothing and the larger the  store, the more choice of styles and colors you will have.

Ideally, these plus size shirts can be either tapered in  slightly so that they give the illusion of a smaller waist  or you can go for something like a plus sized tunic and the  difference with this is that it is the same width all the  way down and is generally more loose hanging than a shirt.

Both plus size shirts and plus size tunics are ideal for the  fuller figured woman because they are are longer and come  down over the waist. The other good thing about this is they  cover up the midriff area which can often be a good thing.   Because they are loose fitting (even if the shirts are  slightly tapered in at the waist, they should still be  loose) they are more flattering to the eye. The last thing a  plus sized woman should be wearing is a skin tight outfit  that will outline her bodyshape and focus the attention on  that. This is not flattering for fuller figured women.

Plus size tunics and shirts are great to wear with jeans or  pants, especially capri pants because these tend to be  tapered in slightly at the end and so give a slightly more  slimmer look when worn with shirts or tunics.

Plus size shirts can be worn with skirts but only if the  skirt is knee-length or above. A longer skirt length would  look too baggy when worn with a loose fitting shirt or tunic  much and you would lose yourself in too much clothing.

Ideally, before shopping for plus size outfits, it is a good  idea to know your body shape as you can then plan your  wardrobe accordingly.  Basically, plus size body shapes can  be put into 5 different categories:

Triangle shape where the top half of your body is narrow but  wider at the hips and waist.

Inverted triangle shape is where the top half of the body ie  the shoulders are fuller than the hips and waist.

Circle shape where the body has full shoulders, round waist  and fuller hips.

Rectangle shape is where the body has similar proportions  for the shoulders, waist and hips.

Hourglass shape is where the upper part and lower parts of  the body are in equal propertion and the waist is smaller  than the shoulders and hips.
